MARCH IS EPILEPSY AWARENESS MONTH IN CANADA. HERE ARE SOME IDEAS FOR CELEBRATING AND RAISING EPILEPSY AWARENESS.
TELL YOUR EPILEPSY STORY
Sharing your epilepsy story is a powerful way to raise awareness. Personal stories put a face to epilepsy. They help people understand the experience of living with seizures. They can bust myths and change misconceptions about what people with epilepsy are like. Your story may help someone with epilepsy feel less alone, and could even inspire them to share their own epilepsy story.
Your epilepsy story is important. You can share it on with friends, on social media, at your school or workplace, or perhaps even on our website. Contact us for more information about sharing your story here.
PURPLE DAY
Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy. Every March 26th, people around the world wear purple and host events to support epilepsy awareness.
Contact your community epilepsy agency to learn more about what is happening in your community and how you can get involved.
PURPLE LIGHTS
Each year, more and more monuments across Canada are being lit purple to celebrate epilepsy awareness. Some highlights in past years are Niagara Falls , CN Tower, Signal Hill BC Place, SaskTel Center, and Halifax City Hall to name a few.
Visit the Purple Lights page to find out more about getting a monument in your community lit purple this March for Epilepsy Awareness Month.
#IAM1IN100 CAMPAIGN
We are launching the #Iam1in100 campaign in March 2020. Starting March 1st, you’ll be able to download material on this website and help expand the representation of what it means to live with epilepsy.
The campaign highlights the range of experiences of living with epilepsy and that people with epilepsy are more than just their epilepsy.
